Katherine Tyrrell travels with a sketchbook - in Bali

I've been extremely fortunate to have visited Bali twice - in 1992 and 1997 or three time if you count a short stopover on a flight to Australia.  I was based at External link opens in new tab or windowAnanda Cottages, at Campuhan just outside External link opens in new tab or windowUbud in central Bali on both occasions.  Ubud is the arts 'capital' of this culture-rich island but I've also visited places all over the island - and noticed a few differences in the five years which had passed between trips.  Sadly, the original Ubud market, pictured on the right in 1992, had disappeared when I returned in 1997 as had the night market with its absolutely amazing food - and prices!  The sketches which follow are mainly from the 1997 trip.
