Katherine Tyrrell travels with a sketchbook - in Bali

I've been extremely fortunate to have visited Bali twice - in 1992 and 1997 or three time if you count a short stopover on a flight to Australia.  I was based at Ananda Cottages, at Campuhan just outside Ubud in central Bali on both occasions.  Ubud is the arts 'capital' of this culture-rich island but I've also visited places all over the island - and noticed a few differences in the five years which had passed between trips.  Sadly, the original Ubud market, pictured on the right in 1992, had disappeared when I returned in 1997 as had the night market with its absolutely amazing food - and prices!  The sketches which follow are mainly from the 1997 trip.
